ABSTRACT

The objective of this work is to produce a ten kilogram (10 kg) integrated hammer mill and mixer machine for poultry feed production. The integrated machine was designed and developed on modified mechanical feed processing method involving crushing of cereal grains into fine particles before mixing with other feed ingredients for feed production. The machine aimed at reducing the drudgery involved in the loading and discharging of grains and other feed ingredients during crushing and mixing operations. The machine performance analysis has a crushing and mixing efficiency of 84% and 98% respectively and all materials for its fabrication were sourced locally which arrived at a cost of one hundred and thirty-three thousand, five hundred and fifty naira only (₦133,750.00) as against two hundred and fifty thousand naira only (₦250,000.00).
