ABSTRACT

The ICT is impacting very much on farming methods so much so that it has become a revolution. It makes timely information available to farmers in every stage of their farming activities. The book haram menace in the north eastern Nigeria has created the need to use technology to maximize the crop yields in the areas where there is less conflict. This paper presents the roles of ICT based solutions that can improve food security in Nigeria. It looks at ICT based solutions such as Intelligent Guiding Systems, Sensors, Integrated Electronic communication, drones, applications developments, big data etc. and posits that ICT based solutions presents a great opportunity to farmers in Nigeria especially now that security challenges poses a great threat to food security.
