ABSTRACT

Engineering properties of agricultural products are essential in designing of agricultural machines and facilities for pro/duction, processing and storage of such products. Properties like axial dimensions, volume, sphericity, solid density, surface area, porosity thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity and specific heat were determined for Mucuna sloanei seed. The major, intermediate and minor diameters were found to be 29.87, 29.36 and 20.49 mm respectively. The average values of volume, sphericity, bulk density, surface area and porosity were 12.17 cm3, 0.88, 630 kg/m3, 64.24 cm2 and 20.25 % respectively. Experimental results showed that the thermal conductivity of M. sloanei was  while the specific heat and thermal diffusivity obtained for values above and below freezing were 1.345, 1.0278096, 0.172 and 0.226  respectively.
