ABSTRACT

With the ever increasing rise in the cost of construction materials, there is an urgent need to introduce low cost materials in construction. This work introduces laterite partially in the production of building blocks (sand-laterite blocks) Shear modulus of the blocks was determined. Simplex based optimization method was adopted in developing a mathematical model for prediction of shear modulus of sand-laterite blocks. The model was subjected to statistical tests which proved its adequacy.
