ABSTRACT

This research work is aimed at presenting a modified path loss propagation model developed from the empirical data obtained from measurements in the urban area of Edo State based on the log-distance path loss model. Empirical models are normally deployed in the planning of radio communication systems. To meet the aim of the work, an empirical measurement of the signal strength of a UHF Television Broadcasting Stations in Edo State on 479.25MHz frequency was carried out. The pathloss values obtained from measurement were used to tune the Log-distance path loss model to arrive at an adjusted log-distance pathloss model that can be used for radio path loss prediction in Edo state. The adjusted model when tested with other set of data obtained from measurements gave a satisfactory results of 3.2dB which is acceptable for radio prediction.
