ABSTRACT
The
corrosion inhibition of mild steel using Mangifera Indica (Mango fruit) seed
extract as the inhibitor in different aqueous media was investigated. The
weight loss, corrosion penetration rate and impact strength were obtained for
each steel specimens after being removed from the respective media. After thirty-five
(35) days exposure of the mild steel specimens in the various media (acidic,
distilled and sea water) containing the inhibitor extract, the specimens lost
23.1%, 6.32% and 5.26% in acidic, distilled water and sea water respectively.
Also, the mild steel specimens lost 41.05%, 15.79% and 13.68% in acidic,
distilled water and sea water respectively without the inhibitor extract.
