ABSTRACT
This study investigated a
microcontroller based fuel level sensing and controlling in a wired and
wireless environment. Fuel Level management approach would help in reducing the
industrial power consumption and as well as fuel overflow. Furthermore, it can
indicate the amount of fuel in the tank that can support all fuel types
including cellular data loggers, satellite data transmission systems for remote
fuel monitoring system. An ultrasonic sensor was used to send signal and the
rebounding signal received is used to measure the height of the fuel in the
tank. The information received is analysed by the controller which uses the
programmed codes to determine the actual fuel volume inside the horizontal
cylindrical tank. This information is related to a GSM module which sends an
SMS to the monitoring personnel. Moreover, cellular phones with relative high
computation power and high quality graphical user interface became available
recently. The user perspective is required to use such valuable resource in a
mobile application. Finally, a web and cellular based monitoring service
protocol was proposed that could determine and sense fuel level globally.
