ABSTRACT
This study
theoretically compared the performance of a self-excited two-phase reluctance
generator (SETPRG) with cage and without cage. The modeling of the two machines
was detailed to accommodate conditions of unbalanced stator winding, excitation
capacitor, or/and load. It was observed that machines without cage build-up
voltage, and recovers from short-circuit at the terminals faster than machines
with cage. However, they have much reduced power capacity than machines with
cage.
